MATERIAL ENGINEER FOR ROAD CONSTRUCTION @ GBCS
The Material Engineer for Road Construction is tasked with leading and managing quality assurance, quality control, and all material engineering activities for significant road and bridge projects. This position is critical for ensuring that all raw materials used in construction, including soil, bitumen, and concrete, meet the specific technical requirements and durability standards set for high-impact infrastructure. The engineer will oversee laboratory and field testing to validate material performance.
Beyond technical testing, the Material Engineer will provide guidance on material selection and procurement, collaborating closely with the project management team to avoid delays caused by material failure or non-compliance. The role involves continuous monitoring of site conditions and material behavior, requiring a proactive individual who can troubleshoot technical issues effectively. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in maintaining the structural integrity and longevity of Tanzania's road network.

Key Requirements
Holding a Bachelor degree in civil or highway engineering
Must be a registered engineer with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB)
Minimum of five (5) years experience in roads and bridges construction projects
Experience in leading and managing quality assurance and control protocols
Familiarity with international and local standards for material testing
Ability to analyze laboratory test results for soil, aggregates, and asphalt
Proficiency in preparing technical material engineering reports
Hands-on experience with field testing equipment and laboratory management
Strong analytical skills to solve material-related engineering problems
Commitment to maintaining high safety and environmental standards on construction sites
