ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT @ EUROPEAN UNION DELEGATION TO TANZANIA & EAST AFRICAN COMMUNITY
The European Union Delegation to Tanzania and the East African Community is seeking a dedicated Administrative Assistant to join their Administration Section based in Dar es Salaam. This position is classified as a Local Agent Group II role, offered on a two-year fixed-term contract that is renewable based on operational needs and budget availability. The successful candidate will work within a professional team of 13 staff members, ensuring the smooth operation of the delegation's administrative, infrastructure, and procurement functions. The role involves managing complex logistics and maintaining high standards of compliance with EU policies while representing the European Union's interests in official relations with the Government of Tanzania.
The primary responsibilities include infrastructure management such as coordinating repairs for offices and residences, managing procurement processes from market research to contract completion, and maintaining an accurate asset registry. Additionally, the Administrative Assistant will provide backup support for Human Resources, assisting with recruitment, training, and medical reimbursements. Candidates must be prepared for occasional atypical working hours and demonstrate a strong service-oriented mindset. The starting salary is approximately TZS 4,910,058 per month based on experience, accompanied by a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, a retirement savings plan, and paid leave entitlements.

Key Requirements
Post-secondary degree required for entry.
Degree in HR, Finance, Business Administration, or Infrastructure is highly desirable.
Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in facility management or procurement.
Excellent proficiency in Kiswahili and very good command of the English language.
Strong IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Prior experience working within international organisations, diplomatic missions, or development agencies.
Proven ability to manage procurement procedures and prepare technical specifications.
Experience in maintaining asset registries and conducting inventory audits.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to provide clear and actionable advice.
High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professional responsibility.
Ability to work effectively within a multicultural team environment.
Willingness to learn and adapt to EU-specific systems and administrative procedures.
