The Heavy Earth Moving Machine (HEMM) Engineer role is a critical position focused on overseeing the performance, maintenance, and repair of a diverse fleet of heavy machinery. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring maximum operational efficiency and strict safety compliance while minimizing machine downtime. This role requires a hands-on approach to diagnosing complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults across a range of equipment including excavators, bulldozers, pay loaders, cranes, forklifts, and dump trucks. The position is based in South South, Nigeria and is open only to Nigerian citizens currently residing in the country. In addition to technical execution, the HEMM Engineer will coordinate both preventive and corrective maintenance activities. The role involves working extensively in field environments, requiring resilience and the ability to work under significant pressure. Leadership is a key component of this position, as the engineer will provide supervision to technical teams, ensuring all work meets the highest industry standards for quality and safety. Candidates will be expected to produce detailed technical reports and communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding machinery status and maintenance schedules.

Key Requirements

B. Eng or HND in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution. Possession of relevant professional certifications is highly desirable. A minimum of 8 to 10 years of experience specifically in the maintenance and repair of heavy earth moving equipment. Advanced technical knowledge of diesel engines and their operational components. In-depth understanding and experience working with CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) systems. Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing complex hydraulic and electrical systems in heavy machinery. Exceptional troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve mechanical faults efficiently. Proven expertise in implementing and managing preventive maintenance schedules. Strong written and verbal communication skills for reporting and team coordination. Willingness and physical capability to work in demanding field environments. Strong leadership and supervisory skills to manage a team of technicians. Experience handling equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, cranes, and dump trucks.
