The Embassy of Belgium in Tanzania is seeking a qualified and detail-oriented Accountant to join their team in Dar es Salaam. This full-time role involves a wide range of financial and administrative responsibilities, including managing accounting operations, processing payroll, and preparing budget plans. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with accounting standards, monitor consular revenues, and maintain accurate financial archives while working within an international and professional environment. The gross salary for this position is TZS 4,125,240 per month for candidates with at least two years of experience.

In addition to core accounting tasks, the role encompasses logistics and administrative support. This includes identifying procurement needs, monitoring service delivery contracts, and maintaining equipment inventories. The Accountant will also serve as the ICT Focal Point, managing hardware and software needs and liaising with central ICT teams. Applicants must be proactive, client-focused, and capable of working independently to meet strict deadlines. Knowledge of Swahili, Dutch, or French is considered an additional advantage for this multifaceted position.

Key Requirements

University degree in accounting, finance, or a related field of study. Minimum of 2 years professional experience in an accounting or similar financial role. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Strong English communication skills, both written and spoken, for professional environments. Demonstrated ability to meet strict deadlines and work independently with minimal supervision. High level of attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial recording. Experience in processing payroll-related documents including remuneration and bonuses. Competency in procurement support, including bid analysis and contract monitoring. Ability to serve as an ICT focal point and manage hardware/software maintenance needs. Familiarity with Tanzanian NSSF and NHIF contribution regulations and compliance. Strong sense of integrity, professionalism, and service orientation in a diplomatic setting. Willingness to learn Belgian legislation and international administrative systems.
