INVESTMENT OFFICER @ BIO - THE BELGIAN INVESTMENT COMPANY FOR DEVELOPING COUNTRIES
BIO, the Belgian Investment Company for Developing Countries, is looking for an experienced Investment Officer to join its regional team based in Nairobi, Kenya. In this role, you will be a key player in driving development finance and impact investing across Eastern and Southern Africa. Your primary focus will be to originate, assess, structure, and negotiate both debt and equity investments, contributing directly to the growth of the private sector in these regions. You will engage with a variety of stakeholders, including financial institutions, corporate entities, and infrastructure projects, ensuring high-quality transaction execution and financial analysis.
As an Investment Officer, you will also be responsible for building and managing a robust pipeline of investment opportunities while conducting thorough investment appraisals and financial modeling. Key Requirements
Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field.
A professional certification such as CFA or CPA is highly preferred.
5–6 years of relevant investment experience specifically in emerging markets.
Proven experience in transaction execution and sophisticated financial modelling.
Deep understanding and knowledge of Eastern and Southern African markets.
Strong ability to originate, assess, structure, and negotiate investment deals.
Experience in managing a consistent pipeline of high-value investment opportunities.
Demonstrated ability to conduct detailed investment appraisals and financial analysis.
Excellent communication and relationship management skills for engaging with stakeholders.
A strong passion for private sector development and impact investing in Africa.
