INTELLIGENT TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS (ITS) ENGINEER @ AUTOSTRAD
Autostrad is seeking a technically driven Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Engineer to manage and optimize all Intelligent Transportation Systems across our bus fleet and depots in Tanzania. The successful candidate will be responsible for commissioning and managing various technological components, including AVM, CCTV/MDVR, PIS, and AFC/CICO systems, alongside routers and communication devices. You will play a critical role in ensuring maximum ITS uptime, achieving fast fault resolution, and leading subcontractor coordination to maintain strict SLA compliance. In this role, you will monitor GPS accuracy, route compliance, and AFC performance to ensure operational excellence. Furthermore, you will support authority inspections, ensure regulatory compliance, and maintain comprehensive ITS asset inventories and technical documentation. This position offers a unique opportunity to join a team driving smarter mobility solutions within the public transport sector of Tanzania, requiring a blend of technical expertise in networking, vehicle electrical systems, and performance-focused project management.
Key Requirements
Strong expertise in Automatic Vehicle Management (AVM).
Proficiency in GPS tracking and networking protocols (TCP/IP, VPN).
Hands-on experience with 4G/5G communication devices.
In-depth understanding of vehicle electrical and embedded systems.
Proven ability to manage CCTV/MDVR and Passenger Information Systems (PIS).
Experience with Automated Fare Collection (AFC) and Check-In/Check-Out (CICO) systems.
Ability to lead subcontractor coordination and ensure SLA compliance.
Strong performance-focused mindset with excellent technical reporting skills.
Knowledge of regulatory compliance and authority inspections in the transport sector.
Competency in maintaining technical documentation and ITS asset inventory.
