We are seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Chemist with a strong background in ISO/IEC 17025 quality systems and laboratory accreditation requirements to join our team in Mwanza. The ideal candidate will play a key role in ensuring technical excellence, compliance, and continuous improvement across our analytical operations within the laboratory services and mining industry. This role is essential for maintaining the integrity of our laboratory results and ensuring all procedures meet international standards for quality and safety.

As a Chemist at Orelysis, you will be responsible for performing routine and advanced chemical analyses, maintaining the laboratory’s Quality Management System (QMS), and preparing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). You will be involved in method validation, measurement uncertainty calculations, and instrument calibration for equipment such as AAS and ICP-OES. Key Requirements

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a related science field. Minimum 3 years’ experience in an analytical laboratory environment. Strong knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025:2017 requirements and laboratory accreditation processes. Hands-on experience with instruments such as AAS, ICP-OES, XRF, or titrators. Proven experience with method validation and quality control charts. Knowledge of Certified Reference Materials (CRMs) and proficiency testing schemes. Ability to conduct internal audits and participate in external assessments. Proficiency in preparing and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Ability to implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to address non-conformances. Strong results-driven approach with excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
