The MEAL Officer will be responsible for overseeing all monitoring, reporting, and evaluation activities associated with the EU-funded HARVEST project. This critical role, based in Mutoko, requires ensuring high standards of data quality, strong accountability to beneficiaries and partners, and promoting effective learning processes to continuously improve project outcomes in the Mashonaland East region. Key responsibilities include supporting outcome and impact monitoring, collaborating closely with research and private sector partners, and actively promoting gender equality and youth empowerment within project implementation.
The ideal candidate possesses a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in a relevant field such as Agriculture, Economics, or M&E, coupled with at least five years of related professional experience. Success in this position demands strong data analysis and reporting skills, proficiency in digital data collection tools like CommCare, and the proven ability to manage complex data sets and produce accurate donor reports. The officer must also demonstrate the capacity to effectively work with a wide array of stakeholders to achieve project goals.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Economics, Monitoring & Evaluation, or related fields; Master’s preferred.
  • At least 5 years’ relevant experience in monitoring and evaluation.
  • Strong proficiency in data analysis and technical reporting skills for donor organizations.
  • Proven experience utilizing digital data collection tools, specifically CommCare.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively and manage relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience overseeing monitoring, reporting, and evaluation activities for large-scale, EU-funded projects.
  • Working knowledge of incorporating principles of accountability, gender equality, youth empowerment, and inclusion into project activities.
  • Strong understanding of outcome and impact monitoring frameworks and methodologies.
  • Ability to support evidence-based decision making through high-quality data.
  • Commitment to ensuring accountability to beneficiaries, including farmers and partners.
