A leading logistics operation in Dar es Salaam requires 2 specialized Declaration Officers to handle complex customs clearance processes. This role is central to the operation, requiring expert knowledge in Tanzanian customs laws, tariff classification, and the use of the national integrated customs system (TANCIS) to ensure rapid and compliant movement of goods.
Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years of specialized experience in customs declarations. Key duties involve preparing and submitting accurate customs declarations, liaising with relevant authorities like TRA, and ensuring that all import/export transactions adhere strictly to national regulations, minimizing costs and delays associated with clearance.

Requirements:
- 3+ Years experience preferably within a Logistics or related field, specifically customs declaration.
- Certified knowledge of Tanzania customs procedures and tariffs (EAC CET).
- Proficiency in utilizing the TANCIS system for declaration submission.
- Experience in accurate commodity classification and valuation.
- Ability to calculate and manage duties, taxes, and fees payable.
- Strong negotiation skills when dealing with Customs officials regarding valuation or queries.
- Detail orientation to ensure declarations are error-free and compliant.
- Excellent understanding of import/export regulatory frameworks.
- Relevant professional certification in Customs Clearing and Freight Forwarding.
- Ability to resolve complex clearance issues promptly to avoid demurrage.
