Girls First Initiative (GFI) is seeking a dedicated and experienced Communication Officer to join their team in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. This full-time role is crucial for managing the organization's internal and external communications, ensuring the mission of youth and gender empowerment is effectively relayed to stakeholders, partners, and the public. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing communication strategies that enhance GFI's visibility and impact.

Key responsibilities include creating compelling content for digital platforms, handling media outreach, managing social media channels, and supporting advocacy campaigns. The role requires strong organizational skills, excellent proficiency in communication technologies, and a demonstrated passion for the organization's cause. The position is based at the duty station in Dar es Salaam.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (3+ years) working as a Communications Officer, preferably within the NGO/non-profit sector.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Swahili.
  • Proficiency in creating engaging content for various platforms (social media, websites, press releases).
  • Experience managing digital communication strategies and social media accounts.
  • Ability to monitor, analyze, and report on communication metrics and campaign performance.
  • Strong media relations skills and experience drafting press kits.
  • Experience in graphic design and video editing software (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to gender equality and youth empowerment issues.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
