SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR @ BANK OF AFRICA (BMCE GROUP)
The Bank of Africa (BMCE Group) is seeking a skilled Systems Administrator (Senior Officer) to join the Operations & Support Department – ICT team. This role is crucial for ensuring the stability, security, and overall efficiency of the bank’s critical IT infrastructure. Key responsibilities include installing and maintaining physical and virtual servers (Windows/Linux), administering virtualization platforms like VMware and Hyper-V, managing core server services (AD, DNS, DHCP), and ensuring the smooth operation and optimization of the Core Banking Systems (CBS).The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a secure and compliant IT environment, addressing audit findings, and coordinating system upgrades and deployments. A primary focus is on safeguarding data integrity and ensuring proven backup and disaster recovery readiness through regular testing. The expected outcome is high availability and reliability of all critical banking systems, supported by up-to-date technical documentation.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, ICT, System Engineering, or a related field.
- 3–5 years’ experience in systems administration, preferably within a banking or regulated environment.
- Strong knowledge of enterprise IT architecture, Windows/Linux servers, and administration.
- Expertise in administering virtualization platforms such as VMware and Hyper-V, as well as storage systems.
- Proficiency in managing core server services including Active Directory (AD), DNS, DHCP, file, application, and mail servers.
- Experience with monitoring system performance, analyzing logs, and implementing security alerts and controls.
- Ability to perform and test regular backups, data restoration, and participate in Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity (DR/BC) testing.
- Familiarity with IT security standards and frameworks, such as ISO 27001 or NIST.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving mindset, with the ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., MCSA/MCSE, Linux+, VMware) are considered a significant advantage.
- Maintain and patch operating systems, applications, antivirus, and ensure accurate system documentation and inventories.
