SOFTWARE ENGINEER - AI AGENT DEVELOPMENT @ SYMANTRIX
Symantrix is seeking a highly skilled contract Software Engineer for AI Agent Development to join the team in Santa Clara, CA. This long-term engagement focuses on designing and building production-grade AI agents intended to support device onboarding and continuous environment monitoring for data center infrastructure. The agents will be constructed on Microsoft Azure AI Foundry and are expected to operate reliably against real device data, integrating seamlessly with existing platform services. This is an applied AI engineering role that requires the ability to produce precise specifications and verifiable implementations.
The project involves working with industrial device protocols and digital twin concepts to ensure consistent software representation of physical environments. Candidates will be expected to deliver well-structured Python code that is extensible and maintainable for the long term. The role requires an onsite presence five days a week in Santa Clara. Compensation arrangements are open to C2C, W2, and 1099 structures. The initial term is three months with a high possibility of extension based on delivery performance.

Key Requirements
8 or more years of professional software engineering experience with production systems.
Deep expertise in software design and architecture principles.
Hands-on experience building AI agents or agentic workflows in production environments.
Practical experience with Microsoft Azure AI Foundry or a comparable enterprise AI platform.
Strong Python development skills with a focus on extensibility and maintainability.
Demonstrated experience working with industrial device protocols specifically Modbus, BACnet, and OPC-UA.
Experience working with digital twin concepts or asset registry systems for physical environments.
Ability to produce precise, unambiguous specifications for implementation and verification.
Familiarity with automated device discovery and configuration extraction.
Willingness to work 5 days per week onsite in Santa Clara, CA.
