ACCOUNTANT @ STEAMSHIP
Steamships Logistics Division is currently seeking a dedicated and professional Accountant to join the team at our Marine Training Centre located in Port Moresby. This role is pivotal in managing the financial health of the training facility, ensuring that all financial transactions are recorded accurately and in compliance with international maritime and local accounting standards. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the logistical and educational operations of the centre through meticulous financial oversight and reporting.
Responsibilities will include the preparation of monthly financial reports, managing accounts payable and receivable, and ensuring tax compliance within the Papua New Guinea regulatory framework. Key Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Professional accounting certification (CPA, CA, or equivalent) or progress towards one.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in an accounting or finance role.
Strong knowledge of Papua New Guinea taxation laws and compliance requirements.
Proficiency in accounting software such as MYOB, Xero, or SAP.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
Strong verbal and written communication skills for reporting to management.
Ability to work independently and meet strict monthly reporting deadlines.
High level of professional integrity and ethics in handling sensitive financial data.
