DATA ENGINEER @ SAMPATH BANK PLC
Sampath Bank PLC is inviting applications for the position of Data Engineer to join its growing Advanced Analytics Center of Excellence (COE) in Sri Lanka. This onsite role is tailored for individuals with a strong foundation in data engineering who are eager to contribute to the bank's AI and data transformation initiatives. As part of a collaborative team, you will work alongside data scientists and ML engineers to build the high-performance platforms required for modern, data-driven banking solutions. In this role, your responsibilities will include building and documenting scalable data pipelines and ingestion frameworks to support the bank's analytics capabilities. You will be tasked with developing both batch and real-time processing solutions and assisting in the implementation of Lakehouse architectures. The position offers a significant opportunity for professional growth, providing exposure to modern data tools and enterprise-scale environments while ensuring strict adherence to data quality and security protocols within the financial sector.
Key Requirements
2–4 years of experience in data engineering or related roles
Bachelor’s in CS, IT, Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or similar
Strong foundation in PySpark and PL/SQL
Proficiency with AirFlow and Git
Experience in ETL/ELT processes and data modeling
Exposure to cloud environments and big data tools
Willingness to learn and work with modern data architecture
Prior experience in the BFSI sector will be considered an added advantage
Ability to build, maintain, and document scalable data pipelines
Commitment to ensuring data quality, governance, and security
