GROUP HEAD OF INTERNAL AUDIT @ PUJA GULWANI
The Group Head of Internal Audit is a strategic leadership role designed for a seasoned audit professional ready to build and lead an Internal Audit function from the ground up. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the successful candidate will be responsible for establishing the department in alignment with global standards (IPPF), designing the Audit Charter, and implementing essential frameworks and manuals. The role demands a visionary who can move beyond simple compliance to drive risk-focused audit practices that strengthen governance across diverse business units. Based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, this position requires regular travel to various operational sites. Key duties include developing risk-based audit plans, standardizing internal controls, and leading forensic and surprise audits. The role also emphasizes the use of modern technology, specifically CAATs and automation, to improve audit efficiency. Candidates must have a strong background in multi-sector auditing and a proven track record of mentoring high-performing teams to deliver excellence in audit and process improvement.
Key Requirements
Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification.
At least 15 years of experience in Internal Audit.
Mandatory CIA (Certified Internal Auditor) certification.
Six Sigma certification is highly preferred.
Proven expertise in risk-based auditing and multi-sector exposure.
Strong experience in setting up internal audit functions from scratch.
Willingness to travel extensively as part of the role.
Ability to build and mentor a high-performing audit team.
Proficiency in implementing modern audit tools, CAATs, and automation.
Expertise in fraud detection, forensic audits, and surprise audits.
