POWERCHINA Jiangxi Electric Power Construction Co., Ltd. is seeking a Lead Electrical Design Engineer for an HV Substation (Primary Systems) role based in Senegal. This is a high-impact position within a major international EPC platform, focusing on a landmark 110MW / 220MWh utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project. The successful candidate will take a Project Design Lead role, involving direct exposure to clients, local authorities, and senior management while overseeing critical engineering delivery on a national scale.
The role demands a combination of hands-on technical design and project-level responsibility. Key duties include leading the design of HV/MV substation primary systems, developing Single Line Diagrams (SLD), and managing grounding and lightning protection systems. Furthermore, the Lead Engineer will support the entire EPC lifecycle, ensuring technical quality through the procurement, construction, and commissioning phases while mentoring junior engineers and acting as a technical interface with consultants and grid authorities.

Key Requirements
At least 8 years of professional experience in HV substation primary design.
Hands-on expertise in developing and reviewing Single Line Diagrams (SLD).
Proven proficiency in equipment sizing for transformers and switchgear.
Demonstrated experience with grounding and lightning protection systems.
Solid understanding of grid connection and integration for utility-scale projects.
Experience working on substations with voltage levels of 110kV and above.
Technical proficiency in software such as ETAP, DIgSILENT, or PSCAD.
Complete knowledge of the full project lifecycle from design through commissioning.
Ability to lead design coordination, approvals, and technical delivery.
Prior experience in BESS or renewable energy integration projects is highly preferred.
Previous experience working on EPC projects in Africa or the Middle East.
Strong leadership skills to mentor junior engineers and maintain technical quality.
