SENIOR DATA ENGINEER (DATASTAGE) @ POWER STAFFING SOLUTION
The Senior Data Engineer role focuses on leading DataStage development efforts within a hybrid work environment in Orlando, Florida. This position is a contract role that requires local candidates to be onsite for three days a week. Key responsibilities include the design and implementation of Parallel Jobs specifically for file-based ingestion tasks involving CSV and fixed-width formats. You will be expected to architect end-to-end ETL flows, utilizing various stages such as Transformer, Lookup, Join, and Aggregator to handle complex business logic and data mapping requirements.
In addition to core development, the role requires a significant focus on performance engineering and system optimization. Candidates will apply partitioning strategies and perform advanced SQL tuning, including the use of Common Table Expressions and Execution Plans, to ensure high-performance data processing. The position demands a defensive design approach, incorporating idempotent patterns and comprehensive logging. Successful applicants will have at least five years of ETL experience, proficiency in Unix/Linux shell scripting, and familiarity with enterprise schedulers like Control-M to maintain operational excellence and data quality.

Key Requirements
DataStage Mastery: Deep experience in Parallel Job design and data mapping.
SQL Server Expertise: Advanced T-SQL knowledge including Window Functions and CTEs.
5+ years of experience in ETL development within SQL Server environments.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or an equivalent field.
Proficiency in file-based ingestion parsing complex file structures and encoding.
Advanced performance engineering skills including SQL tuning and indexing.
Basic knowledge of Unix/Linux systems and Shell Scripting for orchestration.
Experience using enterprise schedulers such as Control-M or Autosys.
Ability to implement defensive design patterns like restartable and idempotent patterns.
Strong operational skills for troubleshooting via DataStage Director and applying quality controls.
