SENIOR DATA ENGINEER @ MASTERCARD
Mastercard is seeking a Senior Data Engineer for a 24-month contract role based in O’Fallon, Missouri. This position is reserved for candidates local to the Missouri area and involves serving as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Big Data Engineering team. The primary responsibilities include supporting and enhancing large-scale Big Data infrastructure, integrating new technologies into evolving environments, and providing 24x7 support for mission-critical platforms. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with development and application teams to provide technical estimates, best practices, and thorough documentation while troubleshooting complex system and programming issues. The rate for this position is $55hr C2C.

Technical requirements include advanced expertise in the Hadoop ecosystem and distributed data processing technologies, as well as Linux/Unix system administration and shell scripting. Proficiency in Java is preferred, but candidates should have the ability to learn new languages quickly and possess experience with Python, Ruby, and infrastructure automation tools such as Ansible, Chef, and Kubernetes. The role requires independent issue resolution and the ability to maintain mission-critical platforms in an enterprise environment.

Key Requirements
Minimum of 10+ years of professional experience in Data Engineering or related fields.
Strong hands-on experience with the Hadoop ecosystem and distributed data processing technologies.
Advanced Linux/Unix expertise, including shell scripting, debugging, and troubleshooting.
Proficiency in Java (preferred) or another high-level programming language.
Proven ability to learn new programming languages and technologies quickly.
Experience with infrastructure automation tools such as Ansible or Chef.
Working knowledge of Kubernetes and container orchestration environments.
Willingness and ability to provide 24x7 support for mission-critical platforms.
Experience in designing and maintaining ETL pipelines and large-scale data processing systems.
Ability to work as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and provide technical documentation and estimates.
Prior experience working with Mastercard or similar large-scale financial institutions is preferred.
