The Chief of Staff (COS) will serve as a critical integrator, communicator, and gatekeeper for the Los Angeles Jazz Festival organization. Functioning as a consultant in a 1099 position, the COS will act as a trusted advisor to the President and CEO, helping to manage high-priority projects and internal communications leading up to and during the 2026 Festival. This role is designed for a strategic thinker who can translate the CEO’s vision into actionable plans, track progress on organizational objectives, and resolve potential roadblocks to ensure a successful event execution. The position requires a high degree of professional discretion and the ability to manage complex relationships across the executive team and the Board of Directors. In addition to strategic oversight, the COS will handle essential operations and administration, including managing the CEO’s complex schedule and prioritizing activities that align with the organization's overarching goals. The role facilitates efficient decision-making processes and leads cross-functional projects that require deep coordination between departments such as Programming, Marketing, Development, and Operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing high-level stakeholder updates, board materials, and meeting agendas, ensuring that all executive team members are held accountable for their deliverables in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.

Key Requirements

Minimum of 7-10 years of professional experience in a senior leadership or project management role. Previous experience as a Chief of Staff, Executive Director, or high-level Project Manager. Significant background in the arts, entertainment, non-profit, or major event production sectors. Demonstrated success in driving organizational alignment and managing complex, high-stakes projects. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to synthesize complex data. Proven ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with executives and Board members. High level of emotional intelligence, discretion, and the ability to handle confidential information. Bachelor's degree is required for this position. Master's degree in Business Administration, Arts Management, or a related field is highly preferred. Availability to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends, particularly during the festival period. Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
