The Kerr Recruiting Group is looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Controller to join a premier residential builder and developer operating in Southern California. This role is specifically designed for a finance professional who excels at managing the granular details of accounting while supervising a dedicated department. The position involves high-level oversight of financial operations including accounts payable, escrow and loan revenue, and the management of loan draws. The role is immediately available for candidates who have a background in the SoCal residential development industry. Compensation for this position is approximately $200k base salary plus bonuses. Key Requirements
Minimum of 5 years experience working for a builder or developer of residential projects.
Extensive knowledge of the Southern California (SoCal) real estate market.
Proven experience supervising an accounting or finance department.
Expertise in drilling deep into granular financial aspects of construction projects.
Strong proficiency in managing Accounts Payable (AP) departments.
Background in handling escrow and loan revenue recognition.
Direct experience with the loan draw process for residential developments.
Advanced skills in creating and managing monthly cashflow projections.
Experience overseeing complex partnership distributions.
Demonstrated potential and desire to transition into a CFO role.
Strong communication skills for reporting to principals and stakeholders.
Analytical mindset with high attention to detail in financial reporting.
