Johnson Service Group (JSG) is seeking an experienced Engineer 1 (Distribution) for a contract assignment in Auburn, Alabama, which is estimated to last for a duration of one year. The primary focus of this role is to design, plan, and optimize electrical distribution systems, including both overhead and underground lines, substations, and transformers. The successful candidate will ensure that all designs comply with rigorous industry standards and regulations while identifying and mitigating potential network issues through load flow and fault analysis. This position offers a competitive hourly rate of $60.00 to $66.50 per hour.
In addition to technical design, the engineer will be responsible for asset management, equipment selection, and ensuring workplace safety. This includes maintaining accurate records of distribution equipment, performing condition assessments, and responding to emergency power outages. Candidates must be proficient in distribution system design software and CAD tools. Key Requirements
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field is required.
Must hold US Citizenship to be eligible for this role.
Possession of a professional engineering license (PE) or equivalent certification is preferred.
Proven experience in designing and optimizing electrical distribution systems.
Proficiency in distribution system design software and computer-aided design (CAD) tools.
Familiarity with AutoCAD and GIS (Geographic Information Systems).
Ability to perform load flow analysis, fault analysis, and voltage drop calculations.
Experience in asset management and condition assessments of distribution equipment.
Knowledge of specifying and selecting transformers, circuit breakers, and protective devices.
Ability to provide and use personal protective equipment (PPE) including hard hats and steel-toe boots.
Willingness to drive for work purposes (excluding daily commute) as required by the position.
