GENDER AND EDUCATION SPECIALIST (REGIONAL-EAST AFRICA) @ INDEPTH RESEARCH
The Gender and Education Specialist will serve as a pivotal leader within the East African regional team, focusing on the advancement of gender-responsive and inclusive education systems. This role demands a high level of technical expertise to guide strategic initiatives across Uganda, Tanzania, and Rwanda. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading comprehensive gender analyses, ensuring that all research and programming align with both national policies and regional educational frameworks. By providing technical oversight, you will help shape the future of inclusive learning environments and advocate for systemic changes that benefit marginalized groups. In addition to strategic leadership, the specialist will play a crucial role in capacity building and professional development. You will work closely with country-specific teams to strengthen their ability to integrate gender perspectives into their daily operations and project implementation. This involves designing training modules, facilitating workshops, and providing ongoing mentorship to regional staff. Collaborative efforts will extend to coordinating with government bodies and international partners to harmonize efforts across the region. The role requires a proactive professional dedicated to driving meaningful impact and sustainable educational outcomes through regional cooperation and travel.
Key Requirements
Advanced degree in Gender Studies, Education, International Development, or a related field.
At least 5-7 years of professional experience in gender mainstreaming within the education sector.
Proven experience in leading comparative gender analysis and research initiatives.
Strong understanding of national and regional education frameworks in East Africa.
Demonstrated ability to provide strategic and technical leadership to cross-functional teams.
Expertise in capacity building and training for staff and partners on inclusive education.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder engagement.
Proficiency in data analysis and report writing for diverse audiences.
Ability to manage complex projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Willingness and ability to travel regionally across Uganda, Tanzania, and Rwanda.
