The client, a prominent player in the logistics industry, is seeking an experienced, energetic, and smart Insurance Officer. This crucial role involves managing all facets of insurance operations, ensuring comprehensive risk coverage, and efficiently handling all claims related to the company's fleet, cargo, and assets. The successful candidate will be based in Tanzania and will play a vital role in protecting the company's operational continuity and financial stability through diligent insurance management.

Primary responsibilities include managing and overseeing insurance policies across the entire organization, covering fleet vehicles, critical cargo shipments, company assets, and staff-related policies. The officer is expected to take ownership of the entire claims lifecycle, which includes handling claims submission, managing assessments, and conducting thorough follow-ups to ensure swift resolution. A key part of the role involves extensive liaison work with external partners, including insurance companies, brokers, and independent surveyors, to secure the best coverage and ensure accurate policy documentation. Furthermore, the Insurance Officer will actively engage in assessing potential operational risks and recommending strategic coverage solutions, alongside maintaining meticulous insurance records, generating essential compliance reports, and supporting internal accident reporting and proactive loss prevention programs.

Key Requirements

Degree in Insurance, Risk Management, Business Administration, or a related field. 2–4 years experience in insurance operations, preferably within logistics or fleet insurance. Strong foundational knowledge of motor, cargo, marine, and general asset insurance policies. Proven experience in claims processing, policy management, and documentation. Must be energetic, proactive, smart, and demonstrate highly organized work habits. Possess strong communication and advanced negotiation skills for effective external liaison. Ability to liaise effectively with insurance companies, brokers, and surveyors. Proficiency in maintaining accurate insurance records, reports, and compliance documentation. Experience in assessing operational risks and recommending appropriate coverage strategies. Ability to ensure timely policy renewals and maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation. Support accident reporting procedures and actively participate in loss prevention initiatives.
