This full-time opportunity is for a dedicated Housing Stabilization & Independence Specialist (HSIS) within Los Angeles County, serving critical areas including the South Bay, Harbor, Long Beach, and parts of southeast Los Angeles County. The core mission of this role is to provide essential support to adults living with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The specialist will be instrumental in helping these individuals successfully find, secure, and maintain stable housing, a fundamental step toward achieving greater independence. This involves comprehensive case management, advocacy, and the facilitation of necessary resources within the community.
The successful candidate will also be responsible for teaching vital life skills, enabling clients to manage their homes and daily lives effectively. This position is ideal for highly motivated self-starters who can manage their own demanding schedules, possess excellent problem-solving abilities, and are committed to making a tangible, positive impact on the lives of vulnerable populations. Key Requirements
Must be fluent in ASL (American Sign Language).
Must be fluent in Spanish.
Must be fluent in English.
Possess 5+ years of relevant community experience.
Ability to help clients find, secure, and maintain housing.
Proven experience teaching essential life skills to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Must be a proactive self-starter capable of working independently.
Ability to effectively manage and organize one's own schedule.
Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
Must be able to travel extensively within the specified Los Angeles County service areas (South Bay, Harbor, Long Beach, and southeast LA County).
