Azam Media is seeking a Senior Transmission Engineer – Head End Systems for a full-time on-site role in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. This pivotal position involves the design, maintenance, and optimization of critical head-end transmission systems to ensure the seamless operation of satellite broadcasting services across the region. The successful candidate will supervise the installation and testing of high-end transmission equipment, collaborate across functional teams for continuous system enhancements, and handle complex technical troubleshooting while strictly adhering to industry standards and safety protocols.
The role demands a high level of expertise in satellite transmission, RF systems, and video compression technologies. Key responsibilities include managing end-to-end IP Multicast video transport, overseeing RF networks including TVROs and uplink systems, and maintaining high service availability during live broadcasts through structured troubleshooting. Key Requirements
5+ years of experience in Headend and Video Compression systems, including satellite communication.
Strong experience in DTH/DTT Headend platforms and compression systems.
Advanced knowledge of MPEG-2, MPEG-4, and HEVC compression standards.
Strong IT and Networking background with enterprise-level understanding.
Hands-on experience in Cisco networking environments including routing and switching.
Expertise in IP routing, switching, and multicast configuration (IGMP, PIM).
Familiarity with broadcast IP routing and video distribution architectures.
In-depth knowledge of Encoding, Multiplexing, Transcoding, and Transport Stream preparation.
Proficiency with RF uplink chain, Modulators, HPAs, and Satellite antennas.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related discipline.
